It is important to choose a teacher that is right for you.
If your child is the one interested in the guitar, it is especially important to find a good teacher. The following are questions that you may want to raise when contacting prospective teachers.
- How long have they been teaching?
- What qualifications do they have?
- Can they provide references?
- Have they undergone a CRB check?
- Do they have policies such as late cancellation charges and the like?
- Is the tutor compatible to your needs and/or specific musical interests?
- Do they have experience in preparing students for the grades such as ABRSM or Rock School?
- Are they willing to teach groups as well as individual students?
- Are they willing to travel or do they teach from home only?
